About
My name is Olena Kyrychenko, I got certified as a Iyengar yoga teacher in 2018.
Iyengar yoga became a part of my daily life. I have been practicing Iyengar Yoga for more than 15 years. I teach in Amsterdam and regularly follow workshops and classes in the Netherlands and abroad.
My (online) lessons can be taken at various yoga centers and organizations or by appointment (private). I feel very fortunate to be able to share the knowledge, experience and joy that Iyengar Yoga has brought to me with you.
I was born in Ukraine and I have been living in Amsterdam with great pleasure since 1996.
As a child I did gymnastics at a the highst level. I know what it is to demand a lot from your body. Performance pressure and pain from injuries in the sports world are just part of a deal, I thought at the time. Fortunately I know better now.
Thanks to yoga, I have learned to really listen to my body, my mind, and my emotions.
The almost meditative concentration during the practice of asanas (postures), pranayama (rhythmic control of the breath) and the search for the correct alignment every time give me a feeling of balance and inner peace .
Yoga is about much more than postures or flexibility. According to sage Patanjali , the writer of yoga sutras , Yoga is the cessation of movements in the consciousness. In Sanskrit Yoga citta vrrti nirodah. Consciousness is the vehicle which takes the mind towards the soul, where you can find inner peace.
Yoga strives for full awareness in everything you do.
Just before the outbreak of corona, in January 2020 I followed a 4- weeks program in India with the son and granddaughter of B.K.S Iyengar, the founder of Iyengar yoga. There I learned that it is not only about the perfect alignment. It is especially important that you try new things and explore them your own way. That can certainly also be done in a playful way. As a yoga teacher I would like to guide and stimulate my students to develop further in harmony, poise and joy.
